I’m excited to share my latest design, Wildwood quilt pattern with you. It features many of the Northwoods wildlife favorites in silhouette, the nocturnal owl, ravenous grizzly chasing salmon upstream, watchful moose, caribou on the move, soaring eagle and graceful sandhill crane. It’s a perfect quilt for the outdoor enthusiast in your life. I’ve made it available to you in three options, complete quilt kit, applique set, and full-color pattern. The body of the quilt only requires 5 colors so of course, you can choose what works best for you.
I’ve designed Wildwood with detail but not difficulty, therefore, basic quilting skills will suffice. You’ll find easy speed piecing steps to help you get the job done faster. It’s is a bed size quilt made up of simple to piece 16-inch blocks. Wildwood is 82 x 100 inches when finished as shown. You may choose to finish it exactly like mine or omit the appliques and fussy cut an interesting print in the applique space or embellish with machine embroidery designs instead.
WILDWOOD APPLIQUE BLOCKS
A large quilt can be a bit much for some quilters so you could assemble the scenic blocks alone with some simple sashing strips in between for a completely different look and size. Wildwood | Pre-Fused Laser Cut Applique
I’ve made it easy for you to recreate Wildwood for yourself. It was created with rich hand-dyed batik watercolor fabrics. I recommend new quilters use hand-dyed batiks for both quilt piecing and applique alike. They have a tighter weave than standard printed cotton fabric which means very little fraying or fabric distortion when handling small quilt pieces. In applique that translates to crisp clean edges for intricate cutwork and batiks in piecing provides greater accuracy because there is less stretch. If you are fairly new to quilting, this project will provide just the right amount of challenge to take you to the next level.

I wrote the pattern with detailed instructions and full-color diagrams to guide you through the piecing process. The full laser-cut kit or even the applique set will save your hands and a substantial amount of time getting to the finish line.
