We are excited to be a part of the Row by Row Junior program this summer. Inspiring kids like 8 year old Elena to the creative fun of sewing and quilting is what isn’t all about! Our staff has assembled an easy applique kit with everything you need to make these delightful high top sneakers.
What is “Row by Row Junior”?
Summer 2017 will be alive with learning when kids hit the road to participate in Row by Row Experience’s brand new program, Row by Row Junior. It’s designed for kids ages 6 to 14. They travel along with an adult, collect free row patterns designed just for them to make, and learn to sew with family.
Row by Row Junior follows the same time schedule as the adult Row by Row event, June 21 through Labor Day. Children need to be present in the shop to get the free pattern handout, but anyone can buy a kit. Grandmothers can buy them as Christmas presents. Traveling family members can bring them home as gifts or souvenirs.
5 Projects Available for Row by Row Junior Summer 2017The Row by Row Junior program includes five kid friendly row patterns. Shops choose one (or more) of these patterns as their free pattern handout. Have fun traveling to collect all five. Blue “I Made This!” ribbons will be awarded to the first five kids who return to a participating shop with something they’ve made using a Row by Row Junior pattern. We want to celebrate any sewing effort, not just quilting.
No Need to Cut High Tops Applique Pieces
We’ve made it simple for kids to have success with our High Tops kit. It’s all laser cut and pre-fused. All you do is remove the backing paper from the appliques, place them on the background, fuse with an iron and sew blocks together. Your child can make their row without borders, combine with other row patterns for a larger quilt project, or finish with the border to make a single art quilt. The choice is yours.
High Tops patterns and kits are only available locally to walk-in customers thru September 5th 2017.

Includes: Complete full color instructions for piecing and “Easy Fusible Applique” Techniques. Laser cut, pre-fused appliques, fabrics to complete row. During the Row by Row 2017 event, June 21 – Sept. 5 the High Tops kit won’t include the borders & binding.

Collect fabric plates and lapel pins available at many of the participating shops across the country. Northern Threads 2017 phrase is “Moose Stash” and our 2016 phrase is “Sew Frozen”.
